…Trip Aims to Adopt Best Practices to Benefit Nigeria’s Local Vocational Training Landscape
Abeokuta – A delegation from the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) has returned from a trip to Giessen, Germany, where they gained valuable insights into the country’s renowned vocational education and training (VET) system.
The trip, which aimed to explore potential areas for collaboration and adoption of best practices, saw the delegation visit several vocational institutions, including specialized training centers for trades such as engineering, IT, healthcare, and manufacturing.
During the trip, the delegation met with representatives from local industries to understand how companies in Germany collaborate with vocational schools to provide students with practical experience. They also participated in discussions with German educators and policymakers on strategies to ensure that vocational training remains relevant to the rapidly changing needs of the workforce.
The delegation returned with a deeper understanding of the German education system and its commitment to vocational training, with key highlights including institutional visits, industry integration, workforce development strategies, and cultural exchange.
The trip aimed to achieve three key objectives: understanding the dual education system in Germany, fostering collaboration with key vocational institutions, government agencies, and industry players, and exploring modern training facilities and technologies.
With the insights gained from the trip, OGUNCCIMA is poised to adopt best practices to benefit Nigeria’s local vocational training landscape, promoting social cohesion and economic growth.
